If you are new to Central Texas we believe you will find the Greater Killeen Area and KISD to be a wonderful place to raise and educate your children. The District is comprised of 32 elementary schools, 11 middle schools, 4 high schools, 4 special campuses, a state-of-the-art Career Center and an Early College High School serving approximately 45,500 students. The district employs approximately 7,000 individuals dedicated to working together as a well-orchestrated team to ensure facilities are inviting; campuses are safe and orderly; curricula remains rigorous, innovative and challenging; and extra-curricular activities provide avenues for students to become well-rounded individuals. These collective efforts result in KISD graduates who are equipped with the skills necessary to be successful young adults.
KISD offers a wide range of academic opportunities to include International Baccalaureate programs, numerous advanced placement and dual enrollment courses, Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Academies at all four comprehensive high schools in partnership with Central Texas College, a Bioscience program offered in partnership with Baylor Scott and White Hospital and Temple College, a Leadership Academy, numerous character development programs, Career and Technical Education courses which lead up to industry level certifications, and a Middle School STEM Academy. In addition, there are numerous opportunities within athletics, fine arts, and many other clubs. We are extremely fortunate to be able to provide students with personalized graduation plans, which will allow them to capitalize on the numerous learning opportunities provided throughout the district.
Through our positive daily interactions and by fostering meaningful relationships with our students, the KISD staff is committed to our mission of Teaching So That Students Learn to Their Maximum Potential. One of the district’s primary objectives in support of the mission is Responsiveness; thus we welcome feedback pertaining to every aspect of the district to include our website. Only through the power of the partnerships and collaborative efforts with our parents and community, are we able to provide our students with the best educational opportunities possible.
