    KISD Community,

Because of the changes to state law and policy, which now requires 75,600 minutes of annual instruction, rather than 180 days of instruction, this year’s academic calendar and employee work schedule provides the district the flexibility in addressing the first bad weather closure day. Thus, January 16, 2018 will not need to be made up. However, in the event of another cancelation this year, the district will likely utilize President’s Day (February 19th) and/or Good Friday (March 30) as a make-up day(s) (in that sequence).

Additional school closure days will result in students and staff reporting the designated make-up day(s).

The district retains flexibility to implement a delayed start due to inclement weather if circumstances warrant such decisions.

Thank you for your patience and flexibility during this winter season.
